**Fay Bennett**
I moved to Bamfield in April 27, 2003 and liked it a lot. So much that I wrote some songs, and started taking pottery seriously. Selling became important so I started Bamfield Creations for my input and others as well in the area. My daughter Laura Bemister works with me and paints pictures, and decorates my pots, and lets me know when I’m doing something wrong, or wearing something wrong, or how to do my hair.

**
After seven years of art classes, tutors and mentors, Laura expressed her love of the West Coast in a series of paintings, “Where the Land Meets the Sea”. Laura has always had a passion for art. She spent 5 years in Vancouver, where she would spend much of her free time at life drawing sessions. She was a volunteer for the North Vancouver Deep Cove Art Gallery, assisting the curator, Jacquie Morgan, a tutor and mentor. Laura has taken several art related classes at Capillano College, including black and white photography and mixed media. Laura traveled to Europe where she visited Rembrandts home and the museum of Van Gogh. She has dabbled in many different mediums including collage, watercolor, charcoal, Chinese ink, and acrylic. After spending a year in Toronto, she moved to Bamfield, where she finds her inspiration for her pieces.
“Through my work, I want to show people Bamfield's unique beauty. I am especially fascinated by the play of light on water.”
**Malcolm Richards**
A long term resident, Malcolm’s work is evident throughout Bamfield. With many years experience with his business Celtic Trees in Sydney, B.C., Malcolm is knowledgable in all aspects of tree management, removal and landscaping. He also apprenticed with a master mason and has built many rock structures including stairs, fireplaces and walls. Malcolm is also well known as a song writer, guitarist and singer.
**Al Porter**
When his Dad told him he had to stop carving knives, swords, and daggers and selling them to the local kids, Al turned his talents to wildlife carvings. Now a long-term resident of Bamfield and fishing guide, Al spends his winters carving. His themes range from marine life to the whimsical.

The Canadian West Coast, with its unique climate and wild character, lends itself to artists seeking to express the forces of nature in their artwork. “…I see the Vincent influence, but your art evokes the brushwork of Soutine, but I see a distinct passionate style influenced by nature…. This man’s art is going to find a huge public appreciation in the future.” W. Matthews, a Vancouver collector.
**Louis Druehl**
“…has been a professor of marine botany at Simon Fraser University for thirty years. He has also taught field-oriented seaweed courses at the Friday Harbor Marine Laboratories, the Bamfield Marine Station and the University of Alaska. His research focuses on all aspects of kelp, including its evolution, ecology and physiology. He is the president of Canadian Kelp Resources Ltd., a company that produces sea vegetables (Barkley Sound Kelp) and operates a kelp farm.”
